Chicago Tribune will end remote printing

The Chicago Tribune confirmed Friday it will terminate remote printing of its Midwest edition this spring, shrinking its distribution area, Editor & Publisher reported Friday.
Its Midwest edition has been printed by Capital Newspapers in Madison, Wisc., and The News Gazette in Champaign, Ill.
According to Tribune spokesman Michael Dizon, the paper will continue its Midwest edition, but it will be printed at its Chicago-based Freedom Center production plant, E&P reported.
"The Chicago Tribune will continue to be available in many areas throughout Illinois and neighbouring states. This change will result in cost savings for the company and a sharpened focus on the primary distribution area of the newspaper," Dizon stated, according to E&P.
