In 2007, 96 percent of 16- to 24-year-olds surfed online, versus only 29 percent of older users, ages 65 and up. However, overall Internet usage across all age groups was up since 2005, eMarketer reported.

The overall age distribution of Canadian online users is fairly even between ages two through 54, according to the Canadians Online study by comScore Networks.

Canada beats the United States in broadband household penetration, and will continue to do so through 2012, eMarketer reported.

Statistics Canada estimated that 88 percent of online users at home used a high-speed connection in 2007, up from 80 percent two years earlier. Drivers for the growth includes new users bypassing dial-up as well as existing users switching from slower connections, according to eMarketer's "Canadian Users and Usage report."
