Another study is echoing the sentiment that mobile advertising worldwide is booming. According to a report from Strategy Analytics, global advertisers will spend US$2.4 billion on mobile next year, up from $1 billion in 2008, eMarketer reported.
The company predicted a growing number of brands will place ads on different mobile media.
According to eMarketer's own projections in terms of the range of spending that mobile ads will drive, “some U.S. universities have courses in mobile marketing right now. Mobile is at a point where online was 10 years ago,” senior analyst John du Pre Gauntt said.
eMarketer's estimates are also higher than others’. Based on heavy adoption of mobile advertising in the rapidly growing BRIC economies, which include Brazil, Russia, India and China, overall worldwide spending on mobile message advertising will achieve $14.2 billion in 2012.
U.S. mobile ad spending, however, will exceed $6.5 billion in 2012, up from $1.7 billion this year, eMarketer reported.
